FOOTSCRAY ALPHABET BOOK

CATEGORY — PUBLICATION DESIGN, TYPE
MAKE — PRINT, PAPER, HAND-BOUND
YEAR — 2024

A hand-built publication mapping the alphabet to a single Melbourne suburb — capturing the essence of Little Saigon in Footscray. Each letterform is drawn from a found object photographed around the neighbourhood — a shopping trolley, market produce, the architecture of everyday things — paired with a graphic silhouette tracing its shape into type.

The book spans 100 pages across three sections: Part One: Type, Part Two: Alphabet, and Part Three: Magazine. Hand-bound with a paper spine, the object carries the same found-material logic as the type inside it.
